Diving at UAE, at Dibba rock, near Fujairah
At Dubai, diving is not very popular. The coast of Dubai is mainly sand and there are no coral reefs. Most diving centers will do their dive courses at the coast of Dubai, but when you want to explore the underwater life you have to go to Fujairah, which is a drive of about 90 minutes.
I went to Fujairah with Nemo dive center. I made an appointment, that they would pick me up at 6 o’clock. At a quarter to six I received a whatsapp notification that they would be on time for the pick-up, which was very nice.
After a 1,5 hour drive we arrive at a more or less deserted hotel complex at Dibba, near Fujairah. The diving equipment is in good shape and well prepared.
In front of the shore is a small island with some rock formations (dive location Dibbarock). Our first dive is around this island.
It is low tide, our max.depth is about 15 meters. The water is 23C and the visibility is around 5 meter. My buddy is Mike Cerna (from Venezuela) and of course our guide.
We have a nice relaxed dive with lots of fish and even some nice corals. We see lionfish, goatfish, cuttlefish and many more. A nice dive of almost 60 minutes.
Our second dive is at an artificial reef. Also around 15 meters depth maximum. The reef consists of many big concrete rocks, an excellent hiding place for fish. As soon as we dive in we are surrounded by large schools. We also see barracudas and even a turtle and a crocodile fish.
After 55 minutes we head for the surface and complete our dive.
Then we go to the shore and lunch will be prepared. I make my third dive from the beach in shallow water at a max depth of 5 meter. Here I spot a cuttlefish hiding in the sand. He got scared by me (not on purpose) and takes off. What a nice moment to put on film (yeah).
After again a 50 minute dive I return to the shore and enjoy my lunch.
Then they bring me back to my hotel.
Diving with Nemo dive center is comfortable and safe. The instructors are nice, friendly and professional.
